The Essence of the Other
Many consciousnesses appear in the subjective world perceived by self-awareness.
So what exactly are these “others” to the self? They are the following kind of existence.
Others Also Possess Consciousness
In truth, the world is permeated by cosmic consciousness in all things.
That means, regardless of whether something is living, material, or spatial, everything possesses consciousness.
However, the state of consciousness differs from one to another.
The kind of consciousness humans experience is not the one and only form.
It may be more ambiguous, more vivid, duller, sharper, or experienced differently.
It may be singular or plural in form.
There is no absolute or singular state of consciousness.
In reality, even among humans, the quality and state of consciousness differ.
And all of these consciousnesses are, just like self-awareness, fragments of cosmic consciousness.
The consciousness of the self and the consciousness of others—
They may feel completely different, but that distinction arises from perceiving the self as an individual.
In truth, they can blend or even become one.
This is the ambiguity and continuity of consciousness.
Haven’t we all, at some point, felt as though we understood another person, an animal, or even the mood of the natural environment?
Moments when emotions felt contagious, or you just “got” someone without words?
These happen precisely because consciousness is not actually divided.
The Subjective World and Others
In The Essence of the World, I explained that each person is dreaming a separate dream, yet seeing similar structures, leading them to believe they’re dreaming the same thing.
The “others” we see in our subjective world are filtered through our own subjectivity.
Likewise, the “you” seen in another’s subjective world is also a version of you shaped by their subjectivity.
It’s like seeing similar patterns in different dreams—you’re not seeing the same thing.
The others within one’s subjective world are constructed by one’s self-awareness, and the “you” in someone else’s world is constructed by their self-awareness.
That said, it’s a bit misleading to imagine these as parallel worlds.
In reality, there’s no XYZ coordinate system.
Rather, it’s like self-awareness—embedded within cosmic consciousness—is observing countless visions around itself.
These countless visions are formed from cosmic consciousness.
Each one of those consciousnesses is, like your own, a fragment of cosmic consciousness,
and at the same time, a manifestation of the all-pervading cosmic awareness.
These are not governed by concepts like location, coordinates, or time.
Related visions emerge when there’s a connection, and disappear when the connection is lost.
It’s not about physical closeness or distance.
It’s more like switching between screens on a monitor—what appears or disappears depends on how soul memory within your self-awareness materializes.
