Step 2: Letting Go

At this stage, you may often find yourself in situations where the very presence of something causes you discomfort.

For the soul, the challenges at this step are things you have already experienced many times, so you may have a knack or talent for them from the start.
You may be able to handle or obtain them with ease.

Even so, you are likely to feel discomfort or pain from interacting with them.

What’s more, you might repeatedly encounter negative events related to that challenge or hurtful relationships.

Such situations often arise when the soul tries to force itself to handle something it doesn’t really want to experience, pushing through with surface-level emotions or will.

In such cases, simply stopping the struggle and going with the flow will allow you to naturally and quickly let go again.

However, when it’s not that you are actively pushing yourself, but rather, you find yourself stuck in a situation you want to leave but cannot, that’s a sign you are facing the soul challenge of letting go of a factor.

This can be a very painful state.

Yet you must face it.

This happens because the soul is working on letting go, and the process of letting go of factors is unfolding.

As explained in Factors Disappear When Projected, once soul memories are internalized, they can only disappear when projected into the world.

So until you have completely expressed all your factors, the phenomena produced by those factors will keep occurring as your soul’s challenge.

However, as mentioned before, if you respond to them emotionally, or through reaction and experience, new factors are reproduced. This can easily create a loop.

Once you fall into this loop of reproduction, it can be hard to escape.

To avoid this, you must be careful not to get swallowed up by the situation.

This is the challenge of letting go—understand that the phenomena are happening solely for the purpose of letting go and maintain your composure.

Take care not to become emotional; understand it’s part of the process of letting go and accept it as a lesson without retaliating. Even just this much is effective, but to end the process even sooner, you can also actively transform factors of suffering into factors of joy.

This method is explained in avoid-suffering.

The Purpose at This Stage

To let go of the factors embedded in your soul’s memory.
By doing so, your soul wishes to leave those experiences behind.

Once the phenomena caused by those factors have run their course, this stage will end naturally.

Points of Stagnation

Moving your emotions, reacting, or retaliating to the phenomena you face causes factor reproduction.
As a result, a loop forms, so make an effort to face everything calmly.

Pitfalls at This Stage

A tendency to become emotional or to retaliate
If this applies to you, it’s worth reflecting on. This only causes further reproduction of factors.

Not being honest with yourself
When you struggle, it can feel like those struggles are meaningful. You might resist admitting something is suffering, or feel pain at doing so.

Even so, you must face the impact it has had on you. Don’t worry. Accepting it won’t break you, nor does it mean your value is denied.
