The foundational concept that has been consistently referred to throughout the chapters on how the world works—cosmic consciousness.
Here, we explore what it truly is in detail.
It is the true essence of the world itself, and at the same time, it precedes the separation of self-awareness into a soul by recognizing itself as an individual “I.”
In other words, it is our original state—our natural condition.
In this state, there is no distinction between self and other.
Without doing anything, one is filled with a calm sense of joy and complete contentment.
It is like floating in an ocean of love, joy, and fulfillment itself, where nothing else exists.
The self, others, and the world all dissolve into oneness—a unified being.
At the same time, cosmic consciousness pervades all of existence.
Thus, it can know, take form, experience, and return again.
This is the true nature of cosmic consciousness.
Let’s explore the mechanism behind the illusion of “this is me.”
Cosmic consciousness is originally everything and yet not confined to being anything.
It possesses qualities beyond the reach of human language.
To those familiar only with the material world, it might feel vague—perhaps even like “nothingness.”
It is not a thing, but not nothing either—yet it is full and whole, and it is everything.
This is the nature of cosmic consciousness.
It is inherently infinite and boundless, with limitless forms and expressions.
When existing in this state of infinite variation
(though in reality, there is no time or daily life, but we’ll use that phrase for simplicity),
at some point, attention may focus on a particular point of light within that variation.
When attention focuses, it can no longer be removed—awareness becomes fixated.
It’s like a player in a video game: even if it doesn’t say “this is you,”
you move the character with the controller, and it responds, sits at the center of the screen.
You naturally come to accept, “this is me.”
In the same way, when cosmic consciousness enters a point of light and begins to move it freely, run, see through its perspective—that is where the illusion of “this is me” begins.
Cosmic consciousness doesn’t have thoughts, logic, or language as we do.
Its awareness is more expansive and transparent than what we think of as “thought.”
It doesn’t process through complex reasoning, but rather through something closer to reflection or intuition.
That’s why the moment of entering that point of light happens in an instant.
Before you know it, you’re caught inside—
and your awareness can now only perceive the focused point of light, nothing more.
That’s why, although it was originally expansive and all-encompassing,
you become only able to recognize the individual self-awareness, the “I.”
